In its final regular-season match, the Miami University women's tennis team will host Northern Illinois University on Friday, April 18. Match time is set for 1 p.m. and will be played on the Hepburn Varsity Tennis Courts if weather permits.
This is the last home match for Miami seniors Kelly Douple, Leda Pesatova and Victoria Pulido.
The RedHawks enter the match with a 12-6 overall record and a 6-1 Mid-American Conference mark to rank second in the conference standings. The Huskies enter Friday's match with a 3-11 overall record and a 1-4 MAC record to rank seventh in the league standings.
Miami split a pair of matches last weekend, defeating Bowling Green 6-1 before falling in a hard-fought match to Western Michigan, 6-1. Douple maintained her perfect MAC singles record at 7-0 with a pair of wins at No. 5 singles last weekend. Sophomore Brintney Larson remains dominant in MAC action at the No. 2 singles slot with a 6-1 record.
MAC foe NIU is entering the weekend on a four-match losing streak. The Huskies' most-recent loss came in the form of 6-1 defeat by Toledo. Katie Friedlund and Lilian Asuaje proved to be one of two successful twosomes at No. 2 doubles posting an 8-6 win against the Rockets. Seniors Dora Delgadillo and Jenny Edner sealed the double point for the Huskies, defeating their opponents 8-6.
